In September,  the SPELL JIF hosted its annual Joint Planning Retreat in Cape May, bringing together industry experts and professionals to address critical risk management topics faced by school districts.

  • “Law Day” focused on challenges handling head injury claims and associated strategies in workers’ compensation court.  The session also featured a perspective from the exam room with a doctor specializing in concussion care, and best practices to avoid “Legal Concussions.”
  • A highlight of the Retreat focused on one of the most transformative topics in education today: Artificial Intelligence (AI). The sessions explored the opportunities, challenges, and responsibilities that come with integrating AI into public education. Attendees gained valuable insights from a distinguished panel of experts.
  • We also focused on our Safety 360 Program as it relates to Third Party Risk Management—a critical area for ensuring the safety, security, and compliance of contracted IT and security services. Through a series of case studies, attendees explored best practices for vetting third-party vendors and managing associated risks.

These sessions provided attendees with practical strategies, expert perspectives, and networking opportunities to better serve their school districts. We thank all who participated in making this event a success!
